A Late Spring Tour of Garden in the Woods. Debra Strick, '73, will speak briefly on plant conservation and the intersection of horticulture, art, and conservation, and lead a special tour of 1,500 species of native plants over the 45-acre garden, visiting a woodland, bog, alpine habitat, lily pond, and more. Also included is a site-specific exhibition "Art Goes Wild: Innovation with Native Plants" by W. Gary Smith. Gardeners may wish to come early to shop the 600-species native plant nursery (all proceeds support conservation). The guided tour will begin at approximately 7:15. Space is limited and on a first-come basis. Reserve your place by emailing Antioch_boston@comcast.net with ANTIOCH GARDEN TOUR in the subject line. Please reserve by May 25. There are also maps for self-guided tours. See more at www.newenglandWILD.org . Bring a picnic supper! There are picnic tables (and indoor tables if needed). Please bring your own plates, utensils, etc. We?ll provide water and ice for your soft drinks (no alcohol allowed). We could use a few volunteers to help with setup and cleanup. Directions: from North, South, East: Take Route 128 to Route 20 W; go 8 miles on Route 20 to Raymond Road (2nd left after traffic lights in South Sudbury); go south 1.3 miles to Hemenway Road and bear right up the hill to the entrance. from West: Take Massachusetts Turnpike. (Exit 12) to Route 9 E; go 2.4 miles to Edgell Road exit; turn left at the lights at the top of the exit ramp onto Edgell Road (Route 9 overpass); go 2.1 miles to the traffic lights; take a right onto Water Street and a left onto Hemenway Road. Go north 1.0 miles (the road name changes to Eisenhower Road, but keep going).
