Alumni who use this Antioch College B&B service will donate a minimum of $100 per night -- not to the host but to the College Revival Fund. Erna Greene '47, Barb Schram '55, and Nick Peterson '00 volunteered to work with me on this. Other volunteers welcome. We also decided to pursue the following schedule of greater Boston chapter events for 2008: On a Sunday afternoon in the winter, we're hoping to have an informal discussion with University Trustee Jack Merselis and possibly his fellow Trustee Sherwood Guernsey, followed by a buffet supper. I am following up with the Trustees to find workable dates. Everett Mendelsohn '53 volunteered to look for space for the event at Dudley House, Harvard University. For the Sunday, April 13, matinee at 2 p.m., Nick Peterson, who works at the American Repertory Theatre, has reserved a block of tickets for us at ART's production of "Elections and Erections: A Chronicle of Fear and Fun." Information about E&E is here: http://www.amrep.org/elections/ Nick has also arranged for us to have a private room for a get-together after the show. Karen Scheaffer '65 has volunteered to take charge of refreshments. In May, we'll host a discussion with Richard Couto, author of the 2005 book "Courses in Courage: Antioch College and the Social Sciences," together with alumni contributors to the book. Everett Mendelsohn and Mike Brower will coordinate this. In September, the third annual Cape and Islands get-together. Barb Schram will coordinate this among the Boston alums, together with Zee Gamson on the Vineyard. Our big fall event will be a panel discussion on Rebuilding Education for the 21st Century. Barb Schram, Everett Mendelsohn, and Roy Crystal '71 will coordinate this. Our next planning-group meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 8, at 6:30 p.m. at Mike Brower's house in Cambridge. Jan Nicholson was volunteered in absentia to order a take-out dinner for us, assuming she's able to attend the meeting. And Mike Brower encouraged everyone to get in touch with old friends from college and ask whether they have a local alumni chapter and, if not, whether they'd like to start one. Mike will help you take it from there.
