The College is revived! It's not yet hale and hearty, but it has been brought back to life -- owing to the efforts of its alumni. If you haven't already, I hope you will put the local alumni Inauguration Night party on your calendar -- and reply to this e-mail to let me know you've done so. The party is January 20, a week from today; you should already have received an invitation with further details (I'll re-send on request); but now we'll have much more to talk about. We're working on getting a member of the College Board Pro Tempore to attend and tell us in his or her own words what is the status of things in Yellow Springs. We'll have a lot to discuss about the increasingly bright future of the school. We expect to have at least one member of the new College Board Pro Tem with us. If you can make it and you have not already RSVPed, please do so now. Plan to bring food, drink, or a $5 contribution toward dinner. John Burstein, our host, says children are very welcome. Tomorrow night we'll be celebrating real, tangible PROGRESS toward the revival of Antioch College as an independent entity, as well as (knock on wood!) a national political rebirth. Matthew Derr '89 will be with us to answer our questions, bring all of us up to date, and tell us how -- finally! -- we can help. Matthew was one of two representatives of the Alumni Board who worked with University representatives to bring this about, and he is now the full-time Chief Transition Officer for the College. Alums are needed NOW if all the work, over at least a year and a half, that has brought us to this point is to pay off. Please join us tomorrow at the home of John Burstein '79. Also please forward this e-mail to Antiochian friends if you are not sure they are on this (increasingly but unavoidably out-of-date) e-mail list. 99 SEAVER STREET, BROOKLINE (note Brookline, not Seaver Street, Dorchester) TUESDAY, JANUARY 20, 5-9 P.M. The potluck was four-star, and the party was delightful. If we were more sophisticated about marketing, I'd have photos to prove it and let you in on the fun. But maybe the following from our host will suggest a certain merry abandon -- in addition to serving its intended purpose.
