Antioch College Achieves High Marks on National Survey of Student Engagement For the second consecutive year, Antioch College ranks among the top colleges and universities in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). Antioch’s first-years and seniors set the benchmark score for enriching educational experiences. In nine of the 10 measured categories, Antioch scored in the top 10 percent. The NSSE evaluates the quality of higher education in the United States. This study is administered by Indiana University and is co-sponsored by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and The Pew Forum on Undergraduate Learning. Some 470 schools participate. According to the study, “Antioch College takes advantage of its small size to foster high levels of student-faculty interaction in classroom learning, in cooperative education, and in community involvement. Narratives are used in place of a letter grading system, and students and instructors meet frequently to discuss progress.”
