Weber
Honored for Community Service
Megan Weber
, a third-year student and Bonner Scholar, has
received the Charles J. Ping Award sponsored by the Ohio Campus Compact
(OCC) to recognize and honor undergraduate students’ outstanding leadership
and contributions in community service. Megan was nominated for her leadership
in the development of a community based organization called Del Pueblo
(Of the People), a nonprofit organization with a mission to “create a
space where community can happen” for Spanish speakers in nearby western
Clark County. Megan helped create the mission statement, establish a broad-based
board membership (which includes migrant worker participation) and write
and secure grant monies. Along with three counterparts from Ohio University,
Ohio Wesleyan University, and Otterbein College, Megan was recognized
on March 31 at the “Tools for Change” student conference at Wright State
University in Dayton, OH.
