Livermore Street-Book Notes
By Campbell Meeks ’04

Early in Spring 2001, I happened to be in the Literature Department on the night of the first meeting of Livermore Street (called Form and Utterance at that time). I wasn’t
going to attend because my high school experience made me expect a group of people more interested in mutual admiration than in actually producing a magazine. On my way out of the building, I ran into someone who convinced me to stay. I was pleasantly surprised to discover a group of people who cared deeply about what they were doing and were willing to go to great lengths to get it done. I signed on that term and every term since. I’ve never regretted it.

We’re getting ready to publish the seventh issue of Livermore Street, on the second anniversary of the first issue. With twice the budget of the first issue, and the ever-increasing support of the community, we’re able to focus on process and content. We’re looking for ways to do more. Each issue has raised the bar a notch, and I am confident that we’ll be able to keep raising it, making the magazine bigger and nicer. We’re getting more involved in the community, through readings and other events, like a Scrabble tournament on Community Day. Most importantly, we’re looking towards the horizon and finding ways to keep the magazine going long after the last of the original staff is gone.

If interested in receiving copies of Livermore Street return the form below with a check for $18 made out to Antioch College - The Livermore Street Project (one year - three issues) to Antioch College, The Livermore Street Project, 795 Livermore Street, Yellow Springs, OH 45387.
