Come to Reunion 2003 June 27-29

What do 150 years, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, live jazz, student passions and the 1970s have in common? They all have a special place at this year’s Reunion 2003, June 27-29. The Alumni Association Board and the Office of Alumni Relations is planning a Reunion celebration that will entertain, inspire and engage every generation.

This year’s Alumni Award winners include Lisa Delpit ’74 who receives the Horace Mann Award honoring her victories for humanity. Lisa is one of the leading authorities on urban education and is a recipient of the MacArthur Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education. Ray Gambino, M.D. ’48, this year’s Rebecca Rice Award winner, is a clinical pathologist and medical laboratory director. He is being recognized for his work improving medical laboratories and for sharing his work and educating the medical community. Irwin Abrams, former Professor Emeritus of History and Distinguished University Professor Emeritus at Antioch College and the world’s leading authority on the Nobel Peace Prize winners, will be recognized for his service to the community, and Marcia Baum ’45, former Trustee and Alumni Board member, will receive the J.D. Dawson Award for service to the College. Irwin and Marcia will be present at the reunion to make presentations on Friday, June 27.

Other programming highlights include a forum of 70s alums on the spirit of that era at Antioch. Student Passions will tell you what students care about today, DJ Clean Gene Lohman will play tunes on the stoop, and the President will discuss the state of the College. The College is also extremely pleased to announce that Nobel Peace Prize winner and Antioch alum José Ramos-Horta will be the featured speaker on Saturday night, kicking off a year-long sesquicentennial celebration.

This year’s anniversary classes are ’43, ’48, ’53, ’63, ’73, ’78, ’83, and ’93. The Work Project begins on Tuesday, June 24 and ends Thursday, June 26, 2003.
