Antioch Up for Accreditation

Antioch was recently visited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) as part of the University's reaccreditation process. The NCA visited every campus from September 30th through October 15th of 2002 in order to evaluate Antioch University's progress since the last accreditation process occurred ten years ago.

In preparation for the visit, each campus submitted its own Self-Study along with relevant catalogs and handbooks. During campus visits, the Review Team members sent by the NCA had the opportunity to review a multitude of exhibits -- manuals, syllabi, vitae, press releases, student work products, student records, etc. -- pulled together by the hardworking Antioch employees that keep every one of Antioch's campuses up and running. Staff, faculty, students, and administration had the opportunity to meet with the Review Team in order to help provide a fuller picture of Antioch's progress and the vision for the decade to come.

The NCA visited Antioch University in order to evaluate the following five key criteria:

  1. The institution has clear and publicly stated purposes consistent with its mission and appropriate to an institution of higher education.
  2. The institution has effectively organized the human, financial, and physical resources necessary to accomplish its purposes.
  3. The institution is accomplishing its educational and other purposes.
  4. The institution can continue to accomplish its purpose and strengthen its educational effectiveness.
  5. The institution demonstrates integrity in its practices and relationships.

The report from the NCA will be finalized in March of 2003.
